The Maremma is the coastal hills that that is frontier land. Today, finally, these lands mark the border between Lazio and Tuscany. The main peculiarity of this area is undoubtedly its special natural habitats. In fact, along the countryside, one realizes the continuous succession of false stories that, well see, are nothing but narrow plateaus elongated, beneath which flow of volcanic gorges (ravines) deep on average about a hundred meters. The remoteness of this area by national roads has helped to isolate and preserve the environment and its morphology.
